History and Mission - Carteret County Friends of AgingHistory and Mission

Our history and mission runs deep in hearts having been a non-profit organization dedicated to older adults for 18 years.

The Friends of Aging is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit dedicated to improving the quality of life, preserving the independence and promoting the mental and physical well-being of older adults in Carteret County.

The Center is named after Leon Mann, Jr., a strong advocate for the creation of a local senior center and instrumental in leading the community to pass a bond referendum for funding of the building. Open to the public since August of 1997, the Center now serves over 200 seniors per day.
