The Carteret County Department of Aging is located at the Leon Mann, Jr. Enrichment Center in Morehead City. Together with the Friends of Aging, the county provides services and activities that support independent living for older adults and postpone or prevent the need for medical or nursing home care.
Leon Mann, Jr. Enrichment Center Hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Membership to the Center is free of charge for any adult age 50 or better. Transportation is available to the Center, and a lunch is served free of charge at 11:30 am to those 60 and better. Home-Delivered Meals and other in-home services are provided free of charge to the homebound age 60 and better.
The Center is certified as an elite North Carolina Senior Center of Excellence by the North Carolina Division of Aging and Adult Services. It offers a wide range of activities from dance lessons, fitness groups and classes, library, card games, computer lab, Friday night dances, social clubs, and much, much more. A range of senior health services, including blood pressure checks, health and wellness seminars, and practical services such as tax preparation and AARP driver’s education, are also available at the Center.
